Meeting real needs in our city — because the Gospel is lived out in acts of love and practical service.
Jesus did not come to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). At Cherryfield Baptist Church, we believe that following Jesus means moving toward the needs of our community — not away from them. Moncton is a growing, diverse city with real pockets of vulnerability and need, and we are committed to being present and helpful in every way we can.
Our outreach programs are open to everyone in the community, regardless of faith background. You do not need to attend our church to benefit from our programs. We serve freely, unconditionally, and with the love of Christ as our motivation.
Every month, our Food Pantry Program distributes grocery packages to families and individuals experiencing food insecurity across Greater Moncton. Stocked through the generosity of our congregation and local food drives, the pantry provides nutritious non-perishable items, fresh produce when available, and personal care products.
Our goal is not only to fill a food gap but to do so with dignity and warmth. Every person who accesses our pantry is treated as a valued neighbour. Our trained volunteers are happy to connect individuals with additional community resources such as income assistance, housing support, and mental health services.
The Food Pantry operates in partnership with several local agencies and schools, ensuring we reach families who may not know where to turn.
New Brunswick is experiencing one of the fastest rates of immigration and population growth in its history. Many newcomers arrive in Moncton with great hope and significant challenges — navigating a new language, a new culture, unfamiliar systems, and the profound loneliness of starting over in an unknown city.
Our Newcomer Welcome Program exists to be a warm first point of contact for immigrants, refugees, and newcomers of all backgrounds. We provide practical assistance including: help with government forms and settlement paperwork, English conversation practice, connections to settlement agencies, and simple hospitality — meals, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
We partner with local settlement organizations and Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) programs to ensure that every newcomer we meet is connected to the full range of available support. Our volunteers come from diverse cultural backgrounds and speak multiple languages.
Many Moncton families are navigating the challenges of after-school childcare, homework support, and providing safe, structured environments for their children during the critical hours between school dismissal and the end of the workday. Our Youth After-School Program addresses this real and pressing community need.
Running Monday through Thursday during the school year, the program provides a safe, supervised, and stimulating environment for children and young teens. We offer homework help from trained adult tutors, nutritious snack provision, recreational activities, and mentorship from caring adult volunteers who invest in the long-term wellbeing of every participant.
The program is offered free of charge and is open to students in Grades 1–8 living in the Moncton area. We work in partnership with local schools to identify students who could most benefit from the program and to ensure continuity of support.
Loneliness and isolation are among the most serious health challenges facing seniors in Atlantic Canada today. Our Senior Outreach Program is built around one simple conviction: every elderly person in our community deserves to feel seen, known, and cared for.
Our dedicated team of trained volunteers provides weekly in-person visits to seniors living alone or in care facilities throughout the Moncton area, a meal delivery program for homebound seniors who are unable to cook for themselves, transportation assistance for medical appointments and grocery trips, telephone check-in calls for those we cannot visit in person, and seasonal care packages filled with practical items and warm encouragement.
This program is funded entirely through charitable contributions and sustained by the generous time of our volunteer community. If you know a senior who could benefit from a friendly visit or practical support, please contact us.

Years in the Community
Our outreach programs run on the generous time and energy of community volunteers. Whether you can give a few hours per month or commit to a regular schedule, there is a meaningful role waiting for you. No prior experience is necessary — we provide full training and ongoing support to every volunteer.
You do not need to be a member of our church or even a person of faith to volunteer. All that is needed is a willing heart and a genuine desire to serve people in our community.
